CUERPO EXQUISITO, 2021

Cuerpo exquisito es una exploración de los cuerpos en el espacio durante la pandemia: ¿cómo se ha reconfigurado nuestro sentido del “yo” dentro de una urgente llamada a mantener la distancia y evitar el tacto? La noción surrealista del “cadáver exquisito,” un ser que existe como una amalgama de muchas criaturas, no es tan distinta al sentido del cuerpo colectivo durante la pandemia: nunca hemos estado más conscientes de cómo podemos afectar (e infectar) a los demás. Si bien el distanciamiento social ha creado una sensación de aislamiento, Cuerpo exquisito opta por enfocarse en las posibilidades de interacción dentro de este nuevo mundo, invitando a los visitantes a completar las obras con sus reflejos, interacciones y movimientos en el espacio.

Cuerpo exquisito is an exploration of bodies in space during the pandemic: howhas our sense of self been reconfigured by the urgent call to maintain distance and avoid touch? The surrealist notion of the exquisite corpse—a being that exists as an amalgamation of many creatures—is not unlike the notion of the collective body during the pandemic: never have we been more aware of how our bodies can affect (and infect) others. While social distancing has created a sense of isolation, Cuerpo exquisito focuses on the possibilities for interaction within this new world, by inviting visitors to complete the works with their reflections, interactions and movements in space.
